Acts 27:21 But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss.” Deuteronomy 1:42-43 “And the LORD said to me, ‘Tell them, “Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; lest you be defeated before your enemies.”’ So I spoke to you; yet you would not listen, but rebelled against the command of the LORD, and presumptuously went up into the mountain. Genesis 32:30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” Joshua 14:15 And the name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim). Then the land had rest from war. Joshua 15:15-16 Then he went up from there to the inhabitants of Debir (formerly the name of Debir was Kirjath Sepher). And Caleb said, “He who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.” Genesis 22:14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.” |
God Is Watching to See What You Will Call It Turn with me to the second chapter of Genesis. Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to Adam — and notice why. Not to frighten him. Not to test his courage. God brought all creation before man and then God stood back and watched to see what name Adam would give them.
Genesis 2:19
Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.
Whatever Adam called them, that was their name. And that same divine pattern is still standing over your life this morning. Whatever issue comes before you, whatever situation comes, whatever person comes, whatever creature comes — God will watch to see what name you give it. Whatever you say, whatever you call it, God will sign off on it, and it will be like that.
Understand this carefully, because it changes everything about how you read your own circumstances. God did not bring the adversity before you to see what it will do to you. He did not bring it to find out whether something would happen to you. He brought it to see what you will call it. All the situations and adversities in your life — look at them today, and what will you call them? That is what God is watching. What you call it, that is what God will sign off on.
God did not bring the adversity before you to see what
it will do to you — but to see what you will call it.
It is not about whether it will harm you. It is not about whether it will eat you, or bite you, or hurt you. It is about what you will call it. So open your mouth this morning and say, “In Jesus’ name, let a prophetic voice rise up within me.” Ask God for the grace to call some things divinely — to look at some weakness and call it strength, to look at some sickness and say it is your season of healing, to look at some emptiness and say it is your season of fullness. Pray it: “Lord, change my tongue and change my heart.” Those who receive the grace for that, receive it in Jesus’ name.
It Is Not Sin, Not a Curse — It Is for His Glory In John chapter 9 there was a man born blind, and the people of the locality asked the question that people always ask: is it because of his sin, or his parents’ sin, or a curse? The Lord answered and said it is none of these.
|
John 9:3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” |
When you begin to wonder why things are happening in your life, when the devil whispers to you, “Is it my sin, or my lack, or my shortcoming, or a curse?” — God is speaking in the middle of it and saying, that is not the issue. It is not a generational bondage. This is for My glory, for My plan. Those who believe that, say amen.
Behind all your adversity, God has a plan to reveal His glory. And here is the point you must not miss: it is not what the people around you say. It is not what the people in your land say. It is not even what your family says. What name do you give it? It is not their issue what they call it; it is not the issue how they see the situation. How you see this situation — that is what God is watching. Not what the locals see, not what the family sees, not what the neighbours see, not what the enemies see. In this issue, how do you see it? What name will you call it? Call it rightly, and the world will end up calling it that too.
Look at this place where you are sitting and call it what it is. This is the temple of God’s glory. A people created for God’s glory are sitting inside this house. It is the fellowship of the redeemed. It is a place of worship for God’s children who are in God’s plan. God will not allow anything evil to happen here. God’s glory will be revealed in this.
And your voice of faith must be heard — not only today, but always, in whatever situation you look at. What do you call it? Do not look at your disease and say, “This will spread more.” Do not say that. Look at that skin problem and say, “This is for God’s glory; Jesus’ healing will be revealed.” Do not look at your back pain and say, “Will this ever pass?” Say instead, “This back is for God’s glory; this back is to stand for Jesus.” And do not look at your emptiness and say, “Alas, everything is over.” Looking at that very emptiness you must say, “This is for God’s glory” — and inside it God will fill you with a blessing from nowhere.
As the word went out over the skin condition and over the back, Pastor declared that healing was being released in that very moment — that the healing of Jesus
was being revealed on the skin as it was named for God’s glory, and that the back was being raised up to stand for Jesus. “My healing — God has sent it upon me. This is not to break me; this is God’s plan to keep me as a conqueror.”
Jehovah Nissi: The Name Moses Gave the Battlefield
In the book of Exodus, chapter seventeen, the Amalekites came to fight against the children of Israel. Notice how they came — they always come from behind. Those who do not have the courage to stand in front sit behind, talk, and try to cause trouble from behind. That is the kind of group they are. These Amalekites did not have the courage to stand in front; they thought they could cause trouble from the rear. But the Lord our God is our rear guard. God has placed goodness and mercy behind you when Jesus is your Shepherd.
This was not the first time. When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Red Sea was in front and the Egyptians came from behind. That day God told Moses, “Just stretch out that rod.” He stretched out the rod, and where there was no way, a way came. Now the Amalekites came — again from behind. And God said, “Moses, go to the top of the mountain, hold up the rod in your hand and pray. When your hand is lifted up, Israel will win.”
So Moses sat on the top of the mountain holding the rod up, and when his hands grew tired, Aaron and Hur held that hand up as a support. Do not forget that God is the one who blesses those who support you. If God brought Aaron and Aaron’s generations into ministry, that is no small thing. Offer praise to God for those who stand in the gap and pray for you in your crisis.
The Egyptians came first from behind, and then the Amalekites came. Will not some of you say, “Pastor, I don’t know what this is — one crisis today, another crisis tomorrow; one disease went away, no, another disease came; one issue finished, no, another issue began”? For this, the God of heaven has kept an eternal solution for His children. For the issues that keep coming up one after another in your house, in your family, and in your generations, the God of heaven has kept an eternal deliverance. As they come, one after another, open your mouth in the name of Jesus and say, “Over this, I take victory in the name of Jesus.”
God gave victory to the children of Israel, and immediately Moses gave that place a name.
|
Exodus 17:15 And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-LORD-Is-My-Banner; |
Now consider what Moses could have called it. Exodus 17:8 tells us it happened at Rephidim — he could have called it “Rephidim land.” He could have called it “the battlefield of the Amalekites.” Aaron and Hur might well have said, “Give it the name of the place where we fought and prayed.” But Moses said, “That is not the name. We have fought, we have prayed, and all of that is true — but behind this I am giving it a name: Jehovah Nissi, the Lord our banner.”
Understand what Moses is saying. “I only held up a rod — but in the invisible realm there was a banner over that rod.” In that spiritual world, for everyone to see, there was a banner over that rod. Jehovah is my victory. The Lord is my banner. Jehovah Nissi — the God who gives me victory. Open your mouth over your issue and say, “When I lift up my hands over it, in the invisible realm God is today placing a banner; He is giving me victory.” Those who receive it, receive it.
“The Holy Spirit says it is the day of your victory. This is not a prayer of fighting — it is a prayer of victory. It is not a prayer of defeat, it is not a prayer for losing; this is a prayer of victory. This is not a prayer of fear — it is a prayer of authority.”
Whatever your issue is today — and this is not just about the church — whatever your issue is, if you are ready to build an altar in the middle of it and lift your hands to worship in the presence of the Lord, then over your issue, over the crises that are coming one after another, God is going to give you victory. Lift your voice and say, “Jehovah Nissi.”
And here is something worth seeing. Usually, after a war, what should be visible on the ground are swords, shields, and dead bodies; that is what should have prominence. But after this battlefield,
what Moses gave prominence to was an altar. Whatever you see in your issue — in this issue, Moses saw an altar.
After the battle, what Moses gave prominence to was
not the swords. It was an altar.
That altar is your connection with God. The One who called me is faithful. The One who entrusted me with ministry is faithful. The One who set me apart to lead the people is faithful. If today you have a connect with Jesus, then in the middle of it — whatever medical reports you see, whatever bank loan foreclosure notices you see — while others are looking at all of that, you build an altar and say, “I am not seeing that. I am not seeing that medical report or that foreclosure notice. What I see is my covenant with my God, my altar, the place where I have worship with God, fellowship with God, intimacy with God.”
Did you see the picture Moses painted? It is a picture of victory. And today the Holy Spirit is going to give some of you such pictures. When the devil tries to make your life a battlefield, tries to make it a struggle, in the middle of it you must say, “No. I cast out that liar in the name of Jesus. I do not believe his lies. My life is not a battleground; my life is not a struggle. My life is God’s banner — Jehovah Nissi. My life is God’s altar.”
When he tries to picture your days as a time of stress, when he tries to picture them as days filled with anxiety that keep you awake, when he tries to picture them as adversity, you say, “No — I am the one who calls the name. I am the one who sees the vision. Let my prophetic eyes open. Let my prophetic voice open.” Are you a born-again child of God? Then let the words of faith inside you come out. The picture you must paint, the picture you must see, is that God stands as your victory. The devil has a plan to mock you, to belittle you, to tell you that you are defeated — but in the middle of it you wave the banner and say, “The Lord is my banner. The Lord is my banner. The Lord is my banner.”
“In the name of Jesus, twenty twenty-six is the year of victory. It is for the enemy to say his own name — but what you give is the name that God has given victory.”
Bethel: The Name That Obedience Earns You know the story of Jacob running away from home. The night he ran away, fearing his brother, he was tired and lay down using a piece of rock as a pillow — and there he saw a vision of angels ascending and descending. When he woke up in the morning, he gave that place a name.
|
Genesis 28:19 And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously. |
Bethel — the house of God. This is the house of God; this is the doorway of heaven. But ask the right question here: where did Jacob get the courage that morning to look at an open heaven and give it a name like that? The answer is sitting a few verses earlier.
|
Genesis 28:7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. |
Did you notice it? Why did God reveal Himself to Jacob that night? He went because he obeyed his father and mother. If your journey is a journey of obedience, inside it angels will be revealed; inside it there will be encounters. Because Jacob travelled obeying his father and mother, the doorway of heaven opened over him. Say it: “When I move forward for God in obedience, obeying that God, the door of heaven will be open for me.” Enemies cannot win over me, because God is for me and I am moving forward obeying God.
Inside obedience, the doorway of heaven will always open.
Now here is something remarkable. Bethel was not in God’s plan as the place for the temple. If you say “God’s temple,” it is Mount Zion. But because Jacob stood up and said such a thing, God said, “Because he said this, I cannot help but do something like this.” Study the history of Israel: the temple should have been in Jerusalem, yet during the time of a certain king, only two of the twelve tribes went to Jerusalem to worship, and ten tribes went to Bethel to worship. Do you know why? Because one man who obeyed, who received a dream, stood up and said with his mouth, “This is the house of God.” Blessed are those who understand this. If even God expanded His plans accordingly, then in the midst of your situation today — whatever you say with an open mouth, God will do that for you.
The same principle carried into the New Testament. When Paul set out on his journey to go to Bithynia, to Asia, and everywhere else, the Holy Spirit forbade them, saying, “Do not go.” They obeyed. And immediately that night they had a vision — a man from Macedonia was calling for help. If you obey when the Spirit of God forbids you, if you obey when the Spirit of God tells you to move forward, if you obey your parents, if you obey those whom God has placed over you — within that, the doors of heaven will be open. Within that, blessings will be revealed. Within that, angels will be revealed. Within that, the work of God will be revealed.
Hardship and Loss Come from Not Obeying Let us read one more verse. Acts chapter twenty-seven, verse twenty-one — and note that this is not in a boat; Paul is speaking about the journey on the ship, after they had gone a long time without food.
|
Acts 27:21 But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss.” |
“By obeying me,” Paul is saying — I am your pastor. “If you had not set sail from Crete, by obeying me, this hardship would not have come.” And what does it say next? Many hardships and losses come from disobedience. Many hardships and losses come when you do not obey the anointed ones. But hardships and losses change when you obey. So open your mouth and say, “I will not allow hardships and losses in my life. I will obey God. I will obey my parents. I will obey my pastor. I will obey what the Spirit of God says. I will not allow hardships and losses to come. When the words of the anointed ones who are anointed towards me come, I will obey them.” I have seen many people’s lives — many hardships and losses come from not obeying.
Kadesh: Where Disobedience Makes You Stay Turn to Deuteronomy chapter one. God had told them, “Turn and journey into the wilderness by way of the Red Sea.” Then the people answered, “We have sinned against the Lord. We will go up and fight, just as the Lord our God commanded us.” Read what happened next.
|
Deuteronomy 1:42-43 “And the LORD said to me, ‘Tell them, “Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; lest you be defeated before your enemies.”’ So I spoke to you; yet you would not listen, but rebelled against the command of the LORD, and presumptuously went up into the mountain. |
They rebelled with arrogance and went up into the mountain — and they were defeated.
|
Deuteronomy 1:44 And the Amorites who dwelt in that mountain came out against you and chased you as bees do, and drove you back from Seir to Hormah. |
It followed them like a swarm of bees and scattered them. Many things scatter in life because of disobedience. God called Moses to bring these children to the land of Canaan. But the same God told Moses, “Do not go now.” And the children of Israel said, “No, no, we are in the mood now. If the Pastor doesn’t say it, we ourselves will fast and pray, and we are ready. We are one.” Moses said, “If you go now, God is not with you.” There was fasting, there was applause, there was noise, there was shouting — there was everything, but God was not with them. They said no, no, they confessed all the promises, and they went off and were scattered. When you disobey a man of God, you are disobeying God.
In the forty-fifth verse it says that afterwards they cried out to God, and God did not attend the call. You must call when it is the time to call. If you do as God says, He will work for you behind it. Open your mouth and say, “God will work for me.” Now read the forty-sixth verse.
|
Deuteronomy 1:46 “So you remained in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you spent there.” |
Because of that, they had to stay in Kadesh for years. They did not go to the next level. Same anointing, same level. The same tongues you had when you were born again, twenty years later — but never moved forward from Kadesh. Still staying in Kadesh. If your finances also need to go to the next level, understand that staying where you are keeps you at the same level. If you want to go to the next level, obedience is the key. Your levels will change. This day, in the name of Jesus, whether God dealt with you personally or through your parents, whether He dealt with you through the anointed ones God has placed over you — if you have obeyed that, the next level will be revealed. Open your mouth and say, “I am going into the next level by the grace of God.”
As the congregation stood, Pastor turned the moment towards the correction of God: “You know the favour of God is important. Just as important is the correction of God. For some, only one part is enough — only the blessing is enough. But as important as that blessing is, as important as that favour is, so important is it in spiritual life when God corrects us. Let the spirit of disobedience leave from here this day. Let the spirit of disobedience leave from my life. Correct me, Lord. Where He dealt with me, where He spoke, where I am stuck — Lord, help me to move forward from that.”
Jabbok and Peniel: The Name You Receive When You Are Empty
Come to Genesis chapter thirty-two. We know the story. Jacob was returning from Laban’s house, and at the ford called Jabbok he sent his wives and children across. He was left alone. Remember, he had gone to Laban’s with only one staff. Then he had two wives — and let no one take that as a prophetic word; only one is allowed. Ask your neighbour whether one is not enough.
When he came to Jabbok with eleven children and two maidservants, he sent them all away, and the Bible says he was alone. But understand — he had not been alone for twenty years. When Rachel showed a sour face, he would go to Leah. When Leah showed a sour face, he would go to the maidservants. When he wasn’t with them, he would sit with the eleven children. He did not have an alone time with God. But at a place called Jabbok, leaving everyone behind, it was God and him.
So ask yourself: is there a time when you and the Lord sit alone? Where you are sitting right now, is there a time when the Lord and you sit alone? A time to sit alone with the Lord in a relationship with Jesus Christ — putting the phone away, putting the iPad away, turning off the TV, a time when I and the Lord sit alone. The place called Jabbok is your place of aloneness with God. You are not lonely there; you are alone with God.
You are not lonely at Jabbok. You are alone with God.
When we come to the Lord, in the beginning it is just us and the Lord. Then God blesses and increases us, and we settle into those blessings. It would be good for many of you to think about your beginning. When you first came here, how was it? In debt, sick, broken-hearted — a time when you called on the Lord and looked to the Lord. Then, as God slowly delivered us, we became very familiar with the house of God. Then came acquaintances, fellowship, friends, relationships — and reliance on God decreased. Do not let it go further. Reliance on God should not decrease. No matter how much God blesses you, the relationship with Jesus is greater than that blessing. Lift your hands and say, “My relationship with Jesus is more important than anything else. No matter how much God blesses me, I will treasure my relationship with Jesus more than anything — more than family, friends, relationships, business, work, money, status, positions. It is beyond all of that. If not, I surrender all.”
Now look at the name Jabbok itself. Jabbok is a brook; it flows straight and empties into the Jordan. The meaning of that word is “emptying itself” — pouring itself out. It emptied itself; it became empty. And that is exactly what Jacob did: he sent everything across — wife and children to the other side, wealth and everything. His hands were empty. His phone and everything put away. Everything Jabbok.
There, an angel came and asked Jacob the question paper that had been set for him long before: “What is your name?” Long ago, when his father asked him that same question, he lied. This time he got the correct mark. He said, “My name is Jacob.” And immediately the angel said, “I am not going to write Jacob on the certificate — but Israel. You have passed the test; you are beloved with God.” If you are ready to open yourself and show yourself before God, to remove your mask, to empty yourself and show yourself as who you truly are before God — then to the next level, to the next class, to that promotion, do not forget this day that heaven will write the certificate for you.
And when he rose from there, Jacob named the place.
|
Genesis 32:30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” |
Peniel — I have seen the face of God, and my life is preserved. This day, if you see the face of God in your worship, in your emptiness, in your lack — if you see the face of God from your emptiness, He will preserve your life. He is all that you need for your life to be preserved. Open your mouth and say, “My life shall be preserved when I see the face of my God.”
What am I seeing for my life? Not the collector, not the brother-in-law, not that job. What I see for my life is the face of my God — Panim, the presence of God. For my God, I have seen my Lord, and He has preserved my life. For your personal safety, your personal preservation, your personal security — that is what preservation means — for all of that only one thing is needed: I have seen my Jesus. I have seen my God. Open your mouth and say it in faith, and let God give you an encounter with Him.
He named it Peniel. What name do you give? That is the word God gave us this year — the face of God, the presence of God. Therefore get ready, at least in this eighth month, to have an encounter and to seek His face.
Hebron: Caleb Renames the City of Giants Come quickly to Joshua fourteen, verse eleven. Caleb is eighty-five years old and this is what he says.
|
Joshua 14:11 “As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.” |
Now read the fifteenth verse.
|
Joshua 14:15 And the name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim). Then the land had rest from war. |
Kiriath Arba. Kiriath means city; Arba was a giant, the father of giants. And Caleb at the age of eighty-five said, “I am going to rewrite my name. I will change this Kiriath Arba — which is a big subject, a big giant coming for a wrestling match — into Hebron: fellowship.”
See what is happening here. Forty years earlier, in Joshua chapter fourteen, it was after seeing the children of the Anakim that the leaders of the twelve tribes said there were great giants there. They saw the children of Anak and turned back. Now Caleb is looking at the father who begot those children, and he is saying, “Hey son, you messed with my God. I will name this Hebron.”
Caleb says, “Do you remember at Kadesh Barnea, when Moses our leader sent us to see this place?” Kadesh Barnea is an unfruitful place. It was when they had nothing for lunch, when they were starving, when they were wandering without any progress, that they came up there. When Moses spoke that day, there was only one promise — and for forty years Caleb held on to that promise. “This God, I have followed closely. I stuck completely and walked with God. Therefore today I will turn this Kiriath Arba into Hebron.”
You can change the name. You can speak prophetically. By sticking to this God and walking with Him, by holding on to the promises God has dealt with you, God will use your mouth to prophetically declare. Say it this afternoon: “In the name of Jesus, this is a Hebron. This is a Bethel. I will fellowship with God. I will worship God. My generation shall worship God. Souls shall be saved. The sick shall be healed. Demons shall leave people. Great revival shall break forth. The presence of God shall be manifested. The glory of God shall be manifested — that the Lord is with us. God will prove it.”
|
Joshua 15:14 Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak from there: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak. |
“Drove out, drove out, drove out — move away in the name of Jesus. Let the spiritual world hear: in the name of Jesus, giants, move away. All the voices, sounds, and powers of the giants standing in front of this house — as a church we suppress and change it in the name of Jesus; in the name of Jesus we rebuke it. Whatever giant is standing as an obstacle to your fellowship with God in your life, whatever giant’s voice is standing as an obstacle in your family — in the name of Jesus we rebuke it together. Let there be fellowships in homes. Let there be fellowship in husband-and-wife relationships. Let there be fellowship within the church. Let there be godly fellowship.”
Kirjath Sepher: The Battle for the Mind Read the fifteenth chapter, verses fifteen and sixteen.
|
Joshua 15:15-16 Then he went up from there to the inhabitants of Debir (formerly the name of Debir was Kirjath Sepher). And Caleb said, “He who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.” |
Notice the difference between the two conquests. Kiriath Arba was a place of giants — physical power. But Kiriath Sepher is the city of books, documents, scribes — that is intellectual power, mental power. The one was physical; this one is books, documents, the mind. And this is more prophetic than you think: one generation conquered the physical, but what is set before the next generation is not that battle. It is an intellectual battle. It is mental warfare. It is psychological war.
Think about the generation just before ours. We always hear it: there were no bulbs, we studied by lighting a kerosene lamp, we walked three kilometres to school. They were all talking about physical battles — we didn’t have this, we didn’t have that. Everything was physical. But now, for this generation, everything is intellectual, everything is mental. The battle against the mind is a thousand times more than what the previous generation experienced. Stress levels are increasing. Anxiety levels are increasing. Tension is increasing. Fear is increasing. Distractions are increasing.
In the past, if a child struggled, he would say, “Studies are not working out, I am fed up — come, let us open a small shop and live,” and that was that. Now the child says, “Dad, nothing is working out,” and the answer is, “I can only educate you by taking a loan. You finish that and then come back.” There is tension inside that child.
And here is the beautiful thing: Kiriath Sepher also carries the meaning of holy of holies, sanctuary. It has two meanings. And Caleb is saying, “Whoever conquers this, I will marry my daughter to him.” If you conquer your mind — today many people’s stress level, fear level, anxiety level, the depression in the mind, the unholiness in the mind, the challenges in the mind, the grips in the mind — in the name of Jesus, you rename it. “This shall be holy unto God. My mind shall be holy unto God. My mind shall be at rest with God. My mind shall enjoy the freedom of Christ.”
You will call it by name. Do not say with your mouth, “I am stressed, I am tense, I am worried, my God, there is so much burden in my head, how will my family go on, what is my future?” That is not what you should say. Say, “This is holy unto God. If God be for me, who can be against me? God will be an anointing upon me.” If He anointed and raised up Caleb’s daughter to be a wife for the one who conquered, God will anoint the heads of some of you. Your mind and your heart shall be holy unto God. Lift your hand and say it — you are the one saying it; you call it by name. “My mind, my heart shall be holy unto God. It shall be stress free. It shall be full of joy. It shall be filled with the peace of God. I shall have the mind of Christ. My mind will be the mind of Christ Jesus.”
Whatever name you called it — that is what it became.
Jehovah Jireh: Worship Revealed, Provision Revealed
One more verse before we pray. Genesis twenty-two, verse fourteen.
|
Genesis 22:14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.” |
On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided. Abraham called it by name: Jehovah Jireh — it shall be provided. That is all. And do you know what I like about Abraham? Abraham is one who listens to the call. Genesis chapter twenty-two, verse one says God called Abraham, and in the second verse God said, “Take your only son Isaac and offer him as a burnt offering.” A burnt offering — he will turn to ash; even the DNA won’t be found; he will be completely finished. That is what God asked of him.
Now trace the calls. When God called Abraham at Ur of the Chaldeans, he heard that call. When He called saying He would bless him, he heard that too. When God said He would give him descendants, he heard that call too. And when He called here to test him — that call too, he heard. That is the kind of people God is looking for. In every test, one must hear God’s call. When He called to bless, he heard. When He said He was blessing, he heard. When He gave descendants, he heard. And when He called for a test — do not act as if you did not hear. Do not walk around as if you did not hear. Say, “I will hear that too.”
And there is one more thing Abraham said. Do you know what it was? “I and my son will go and worship, and come back.” In every testing, worship must be revealed. If worship is revealed, God will provide. In all testing, worship must be revealed — and if worship is revealed, there God will provide. God will reveal Himself. He will reveal your provision. He will reveal what you need.
“May God do so upon this church. In this mountain God will provide — the help needed for this, the finance needed for this, the support needed for this, the favour needed for this, the connections needed for this. Everything needed for this, God Himself shall provide. And may the same happen in your life. God Himself shall provide — we name it so, in Jesus’ name.”
Whatever name you called it, that is what it became. So today, look again at everything standing in front of you — and give it its true name.

Key Takeaways • God does not bring adversity before you to see what it will do to you — He brings it to see what you will call it. Whatever you name it, He signs off on it. • It does not matter what the locals, the neighbours, the enemies, or even the family call your situation. Heaven is watching for your name, not theirs. • Moses stood on a battlefield strewn with swords and shields and gave prominence to an altar. Jehovah Nissi — the Lord is my banner — was the name he chose over “battlefield of the Amalekites.” |

• Obedience is the doorway. Jacob obeyed his father and mother and found the gate of heaven; Israel disobeyed and stayed stuck at Kadesh. Many hardships and losses come from not obeying. • At Jabbok, Jacob emptied himself of everything and everyone and was left alone with God — and there he received a new name and saw the face of God. • Caleb at eighty-five renamed a city of giants into Hebron, “fellowship,” and the next battle after the physical one is the battle for the mind: Kiriath Sepher must become holy unto God. • In every test, worship must be revealed — and where worship is revealed, God will provide.
