Introduction: When You Do Not Know What To Do

There are moments in life when powerful enemies attack at the same time. When three armies came against the people of God at once, King Jehoshaphat spoke openly to God:

“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”

This is not weakness — it is the confession of a soul that depends on God.

Whatever problem you may be facing today — no matter how big the crisis — if you keep your eyes on Jesus, God will come down and act on your behalf.
He is faithful.
You are safe in His hands.

Part One: Who Are You — A Soldier

(2 Timothy 2:3)

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” (2 Tim 2:3)

This is your identity.
You are a soldier of Christ.

  • A soldier of the Cross

  • A soldier of the Word

  • A soldier of Truth

You are also a soldier for your family — not fighting against your family, but fighting for your family.

Many people do not realize that a war is taking place in this world.
This is not a war that you started — it began when Satan devised his first strategy in the Garden of Eden.

But you are a believer — a soldier.

The victory that Jesus won on the cross of Calvary belongs to you.

2 Timothy 2:3–4 (NKJV)

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please Him who enlisted him as a soldier.”

Bible Soldiers — A Vision

Abel: A soldier of sacrifice.

Noah: Preached for 120 years without seeing results — yet remained a soldier.

Abraham: Never gave up God’s promise. With 318 soldiers, trusting God, he defeated his enemies.

At 90 years old, Sarah received strength to conceive because:

“He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 11:11)

Isaac: Obeyed God's command and sowed seed in a time of darkness — a soldier.

Rebekah: Drew water for 24 camels — a soldier.

Jacob: Wrestled with the angel saying, “I will not let You go unless You bless me” — a soldier.

At 80 years old (double retirement age!), Moses entered God's ministry.

Joshua: A soldier who fulfilled God’s promise — the Joshua Generation never quits.

Caleb: At 85 years old said:

“Give me this mountain!” — even though giants were there.

Hannah: In a society where many children were valued, she did not give up because she knew a prophet was within her.

David: Started as a small boy, yet enemies called him a mighty warrior (2 Samuel 17:7–10).

Paul and Silas: In prison, chained — they did not shout in despair; they worshiped. Soldiers.

Part Two: The Greatest Soldier — Our Captain Jesus

Jesus received 39 lashes on His body.
Those wounds are your healing.

He was:

  • Crucified

  • Died

  • Buried

Satan celebrated, thinking he had won.

But when Jesus died, He went to take back more territory.

He descended into the depths, defeated Satan at the very foundation of darkness, and took the keys of death and the grave from his hands.

On the third day, He rose again in victory.

Today, the keys of death and the grave are in the hands of Jesus.

Part Three: When You Do Not Know What To Do —

6 Steps

1. Declare Who God Is

(2 Chronicles 20:6)

Before presenting the problem, first proclaim God's greatness.

“Lord, You are the God of heaven.
You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations.
Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can withstand You.”

When we proclaim God's greatness, our fear melts away.

2 Chronicles 20:9 (NKJV)

“When disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence… and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.”

2. Pray Personally in God’s Presence

(2 Chronicles 20:9)

Do not depend only on prayer lines.

You must speak to God directly.

Have a personal relationship with God.

Lay down your burdens before Him.

“God hears the cry of your heart.”

Prayer is a weapon.

3. Keep Your Eyes on God — Not the Battle

(2 Chronicles 20:12)

“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”

This prayer position invites divine intervention.

Do not walk looking only at the difficulties.

Look to the Lord.
Worship Him.

You are a soldier.

4. Worship Before the Victory Comes

(2 Chronicles 20:18, 21)

When God answered, before the battle was won, Jehoshaphat bowed and worshiped.

Verse 21 says that worshippers were placed in front of the army.

They declared:

“Give thanks to the Lord,
For He is good,
For His mercy endures forever.”

Worship is an offensive weapon.

It is not celebration after victory —
it is warfare before victory.

5. Stand Firm — Watch God’s Victory

(2 Chronicles 20:17)

God’s answer:

“You will not need to fight in this battle.
Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.”

This battle belongs to the Lord.

You do not fight with your strength.

Carry God’s presence.

Pray.
Worship.
Obey.

God will defeat the enemy.

The New Testament calls this:

“The good fight of faith.”

A fight that is guaranteed to be won.

2 Chronicles 20:17 (NKJV)

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord… Do not fear or be dismayed, for the Lord is with you.”

6. Believe God — Stand Firm

(2 Chronicles 20:20)

“Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”

God’s strategy for victory: faith.

If you have faith, God will establish you.

Stand firm.
Do not waver.

Part Four: The Battlefields a Soldier Faces

It is important to understand that you are a soldier because attacks may come from many directions:

  1. Forces that try to stop you from reaching God’s purpose

  2. Sinful habits

  3. Influence of the surrounding world

  4. Painful memories

  5. The enemy’s assignment to “pull him down, pull her down”

But God delivers from all these.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

God does not use fear — Satan uses fear.

Declare like a soldier:

“I will overcome fear!”

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Closing Declarations

Declare boldly like a soldier:

I am a soldier of Christ Jesus — and I will live like one.

I do not know what to do —
but my eyes are on You.

This battle belongs to the Lord —
I will see God’s victory.

I believe in God —
and God will establish me.

God will not abandon me —
He dwells in me.

I will not be trapped by the snares of this world.

There is no spirit of fear —
there is power, love, and a sound mind.

I am a mighty warrior —
God is preparing me for great battles.

I will never give up.

Never, never, never give up.

I have fought the good fight.
I have kept the faith.

The Lord is my reward.
